Besançon : a history- and art-laden city on the river Doubs whose 17 th  century citadel hosts museums and a zoo; the Museum of Art and Archaeology and the Granvelle palace with its collections are also worth to be paid a visit to.
Arc-et-Senans : the Royal salt-works dating from the 18th century ; this salt-works was designed by the visionary architect C. N. Ledoux and is part of the UNESCO world heritage.

Dole : A town whose today’s profile was moulded from the 16th till the 18th century. For centuries, Dole was the administrative and jurisdictional centre of Franche-Comté. Moreover, it is Louis Pasteur’s home-town.
Gray : This town was built on the banks of the river Saône. Its inner harbour gained importance during the 19th century, but by now has developed into a marina. Gray’s Baron Martin museum invites you to have a look at its Prudhon collection.

 

Pesmes : One of the region’s most typical villages;

classified among “The most beautiful villages of France”.

As for leisure activities, the region provides for :
MTB and walking tours, fishing, canoeing, tennis, golf, yachting and sailing
